A Manic Monday was founded in the summer of 2013 with the aim to bring the art of cross stitch back to the homes of design enthusiasts all over the world. A small business that is characterized by typical Amsterdam values: entrepreneurship, creativity and – last but not least – a great sense of humour.
Hester Gersonius (1984) is the thriving force behind A Manic Monday. She quit part of her day job in 2015 to pursue her dream of being an entrepreneur and now works with a simple embroidery machine, which allows her to answer to the growing demand of (inter)national retailers. Hester personally handles the entire design and production process from her home studio in Amsterdam, in the company of a Siberian white cat named Keyra.
In her work Hester combines an historic craft with popular slang, yielding surprising combinations. Each cross stitch is handcrafted from carefully selected materials: Permin of Copenhagen fabric, Scanfil organic cotton thread (locally produced in The Netherlands), acid free museum board and a frame of choice. Encouraging people to explore their own creativity, A Manic Monday offers cross stitch patterns, do it yourself kits and supplies as well.
The number one Amsterdam Etsy shop by Dutch newspaper Het Parool, A Manic Monday is the place to be for an original gift for yourself and/or a loved one. For a full overview of retail outlets, visit http://amanicmonday.com
